Here are some ways you can: VOLUNTEER: Get Connected Volunteer Hub United Way of Central Iowa's Get Connected offers hundreds of volunteer opportunities, and donation drives for various supplies the community needs. DONATE: Disaster Recovery Fund Dollars received will first focus on disproportionately affected communities by addressing economic needs and the health impact on vulnerable populations caused by COVID- 19 related closures and other impacts of the outbreak. ADVOCATE: Spread the Word About 211 United Way of Central Iowa's 211 service is now working with the Iowa Department of Public health to act as the statewide hotline for general information about the COVID-19 pandemic. COMMUNITY ISSUES United Way of Central Iowa focuses on issues in our community in the areas of Education, Income, and Health—the building blocks for a quality life. Below are six focus areas that encompass much of our work. Click below to find specific information about that issue here in central Iowa—and how United Way is leading the fight. 2020 COMMUNITY IMPACT REPORT Each year United Way leads the fight for the health, education, and financial stability of all central Iowans by working toward the Community Goals for 2020. The Community Impact Report, is published each year at the annual LIVE UNITED luncheon, provides updates on progress made toward the community goals for 2020, as well as highlighting the key focus areas in each category of EDUCATION, INCOME, and HEALTH. Specific initiatives and the results they have produced are also included. DONOR AFFINITY GROUPS Affinity groups allow like-minded donors to direct their giving and volunteering to the causes they care about most, and to meet and learn with others with that same passion for helping others in our community. These powerful groups band together to have great impact on some of our most challenging issues. LINC LINC (Lead. Impact. Network. Change) unites young professionals and focuses on central Iowans’ essential needs, such as food and shelter. ELI The Education Leadership Initiative (ELI) are donors focused on helping students make a successful transition to high school. WOMEN UNITED Women United members are leadership donors who are passionate about school readiness and early childhood initiatives. TOCQUEVILLE The Members of the Tocqueville Society give a minimum of $10,000 each year, and lead many initiatives in our community.
